Has anyone made one of these? If so could you please give instructions?
I am beginning to collect the minis and think they would look cute in one.

Thanks,
Teresa

Hi, I have seen them at the Bluegrass Hosta farm above Lexington. I was hoping someone would give us some instructions on making one.

How many minis do you have Vrose?

I will look on the internet, this is the first time I heard of one. I think I might have saw a picture before but did not know what it was called. I just planted all mine into a whiskey barrel and they were not looking to happy after this hot summer, plus they did not get as much water as they should have. I have a lot of small ones in there but not all are mini's. I have lonesome dove and andrew, they are very small but not minis so I guess it's more of a nursery. I have got tweenie weenie bikini, two frosted mouse ears, cameo, and snow mouse. Thats all I can think of right now. I can't find the picture I took. Blinking

Or search from the main ALL THINGS PLANTS page, there are a lot of entries about Hypertufa with instructions and recipes.

A lot of succulents are grown in that media as it is great and well draining that that type of plant needs.

Look in Gardening Ideas: Hypertufa, the look of carved stone

Plus lots more info in the forums.

Great idea! I was going to try Hypertufa this year and did not get around to it. Still got the concrete and I will look for some forms that I like.
Wow, I did not know ATP had any advice about Hypertufa, looks like the same recipe I got from WUVIE on DG. But I am still a little fuzzy about some of the details, this is great!

Teresa my local Hosta Society gave a demonstration on Hypertufa. I have been to their spectacular hosta and Japanese Maple garden and they use their recipe to build columns, trough, and huge bowls where they grow and display their minis. This recipe is reliable in our cold zone 5b winters. Their columns and bowls are so big and heavy there is no way they could be overwintered indoors.
