So I went to the AHS portal to see the prize-winning photos of the Stout winners, and saw the reminder that next Thursday is the deadline for their photography contests. I'm thinking my Green Spill photo might could be a contender... what do y'all think?

If you enter this image, you need to remove all of the print on any images you submit before they are entered. It would be good to read through all the rules for the contest first. The biggest problems I saw during the years I judged this contest was composition ( people didn't pay attention to background distractions), images not in focus, or over-exposure. Good luck!

There is no print on the image -- any print you see on it right now is put there by ATP anytime you upload a photo. And I promise - I would NEVER enter a contest without reading all the rules first. It amazes me that people do, but I know they do.

The more, the merrier!

And you can enter more than one image.

Lots of tough competition though.

Not sure I'll have time to go through my images for this year. Won the landscape one a couple years back!

I don't think I have more than one worth entering, honestly... but that Green Spill photo takes my breath away every time I look at it. Thumbs up

Mary, that's a lovely photo of GREEN SPILL, give it a try.The competition is tough but if you don't enter you'll never know. The experience of doing it is a good thing in itself. When you start to enter photo contests I think you become much more critical of your photos and DO notice all those things that can distract from the photo. A pretty flower doesn't necessarily make a nice photo if there's something distracting in the line of sight and there are soooooooo many things that can distract like fingers, feet, bad leaves, dead flowers, the list could go on and on......... I hope that I'll have time to look through my photos and make some entries this year. I'm told by friends that I was the runner up for the multiple flower catagory for last years contest but for some reason with my move and all I have not received my copy of the Journal as yet so haven't seen the photo. Soon I should be getting a replacement copy. Thumbs up As far as entering the photo contests you have nothing to loose but your time. Good luck to all Thumbs up
Life is short, enjoy the ride!

It doesn't hurt to try! I entered several last year thinking I might have a chance, but nada. After looking at the winners of the last two years it seems (to me) that some of the same people win so I was thinking of not entering this year. I've never really read up on how they choose the winners but it's always worth a shot and you just never know.

Good luck on your entires!
