Lyle, that's the best photo I've seen of Cameroon Night.
Lovely purples!! Well, only a few more months before we see
next seasons' babies. I get excited just thinking about it.
I am such a nut for these flowers. Now, can't wait to try the
potting recipe to see if I can grow some in pots too.

I am dividing Rolling Raven and thought I would share the root development using my soil mix... this is not to say the soil mix is the best for all climates, but it works for me..

This daylily has not been juiced it was grown in a 5 gallon pot using time release fertilizer, and has been in the same pot for 2 years

There was soil in the center of the root ball but it was time to separate the clump this plant had 7 fans, I usually don't let a plant get that large in a 5 gallon pot, the most I like to use for hybridizing is 3 fans..

It is important to feed daylilies grown in a soilless mix..I also use alfalfa meal (made from pellets), Milorganite, and in the early spring a water soluble fertilizer...

Rolling Raven is one of my favorite spiders, easy to set pod , and as you can see from the root system RR grows very well....

Oh my, what beautiful roots!! That mix certainly does very well for you.
I am going to try it in the spring, and see how it does in this climate.

Thanks Shirlee - The mix can be adjusted as long as the elements are add - I have taken cheap potting mix and added the elements and some extra perlite and it has worked well.
