It's not cold hardy here so how much cold can it take? Am i ok leaving it out as long as the frost doesn't get it or freezing temp's?
What's your advice as to when it needs to come in,i live in zone 8a. We don't get a lot of freezing weather but it does happen from time to time,it's much more likely to frost.I definitely am jealous of your zone!! nodding nodding Hurray!

I push my plants to the extreme Big Grin so I do not bring in my capitella indoors..I just let it outdoors, rain or shine, hot or very cold. And it survives, I find this one very resilient.

This is how mine was last April 2012:

My campfire still hasn't opened any blooms, not even any looser.Does anyone have one that has bloomed and can tell me anything about how they bloom and if leaving it out in the cold is preventing the blooms from opening or is it just slow on opening it's blooms. It has so many little buds.I'm going to look for a picture to post.My computer froze about a month ago,i just bought a laptop but lost my pictures in the desktop i hadn't put on a disc or memory card.

Hi Jelinda,

In my area, my plant makes a good bloom during late spring/early summer, when temps are gradually warming up consistently. Here is a photo I took in 01June2010:

In what I have observed with my other blooming succulents, it seems they need to feel temps hovering from 68F to 90F to push that bloom dpeneding also on what type of succulent it is, otherwise it seems to go on stasis till it receives that aspect right, and then totally aborts it if they cannot feel it.

I'm debating which i want more blooms or red leaves. It has been outside,it still really hasn't gotten cold enough for the plant to turn red.If i bring it in then maybe i can get some blooms from it,especially since i didn't even know it bloomed. Our days have been between mid 60's to high 70's.I have dianthus, mums, canna's upright sedum, agastache all still in bloom.
It's suppose to be 25* tonight but 60* tomorrow during the day.
