The Summer of Stolen Tomatoes

By Sharon
June 20, 2012

They were only little tomato plants, each no more than two or three inches tall. I carefully dug two of them from the family garden and transplanted them to my own private garden hidden behind the playhouse. After all, who would ever miss two little tomato plants?

I missed this article when it was first published last summer but I'm so glad to find it again under "Random Ideas" on the home page. Sharon, you have a way of writing that just makes me smile! If I had some home grown heirloom "maters" I'd surely be eating them right now. Smiling

Hi Lin!

That was a fun article to write, I'm glad you found it.
Nothing like home grown heirloom tomatoes! Makes me hungry just thinking about them.
Thanks.

We are in the middle of matey sandwich season right now. A friend gave me some of her heirloom tomato plants, since she started too many. Such good flavor!

I loved writing this article, love the memories but mostly I love the heirloom tomatoes. That's the kind I grew up with and like a lot of other things, it's still my favorite.

Kim, go out and gather up a tomato or two, make yourself a sandwich and enjoy!

KD, thanks. Whatever would I do without all my memories; most of them are heirlooms too. Smiling

You're welcome! I tend to look at the Random Ideas that pop up on the left hand side. It really livens the homepage by having something different at each refresh. Since I've not been here that long, there's a lot of things I have not seen.

That's the best part. Even tomato adventures.

And I'm pretty sure @plantladylin has posted to just about every article I've ever written in all of those sites, so it's for sure I will always remember and know her well, lovely lady that she is. We also seem to have the same excellent taste in new friends -- as well as tomatoes. Smiling

I've also been to Iowa, Kim, wonderful place. And to delightful Daytona Beach.
I haven't been lucky enough to visit 'thirteen above 0*, KD, though no doubt it's just as lovely.

I've never had the chance to visit Iowa where Chillybean/Kim lives and I forget where Kadee lives but I know I've never had the chance to visit that part of the world either. I have indeed been fortunate to visit the beautiful state of Kentucky and the city of Berea and hope to be able to go back again some day!
