I am new at this and was looking for advice and opinions I would like to thank you all for the info i have received so far.I'm trying to figure it all out now, still not sure about the difference or likeness of reptile lights & grow lights.Evidently my lowes doesn't have as big of a garden supply as others do.

Next time you are in Lowe's go to the lighting section not the garden center. I would bet the lady in the garden center has no clue what is outside of her department. I just did a search for Lowe's in Augusta and they both carry plant light bulbs. They also have full spectrum and a large variety bulbs.

Here is a list of the size plant lights they carry.

I agree I picked up two full spectrum T12 4' fluorescent as well as a few incandescent plant lamps at Lowe's a few weeks ago. They were in among the rest of the lamps.

Thanks for the link !!! I will be looking at lowes just in the lighting center.I do need to take the time to sit down and read the links Woofie gave me.I don't understand the watts to the T-8 or T-12 and what exactly i need not until i read about the differences in them.I would think i'd need the strongest for most succulents and then just put the ones that take partial sun & not direct to the side of the light.

Thanks for all the info everyone has went above & beyond to get me info on this and i really appreciate the help!!! Woofie thanks for the links they're great, sitting down to read them & try to get a good grasp on this.

Have a wonderful weekend and bless you all.Everyone loves pictures right so here's my latest additions (yes i know stop buying plants says my hubby)

t5, t8, t12 simply refers to the diameter of the bulb in eighths of an inch. The biggest, t12, is the least energy efficient, and I'm told that they don't last as long as the smaller ones. T8 is more efficent than t12, and t5 is the most efficient.

If you want to suspend the lights above the shelves, so that height is adjustable, make sure that you buy that kind of fixture. Some can be hung from chains and plugged in. Others have to be mounted and hard wired.

Adjustable height is desirable, so you can raise the height as plants grow. The other option is to use removable things on the shelves, under trays.

The one i have is hanging from a chain and i have been able to experiment with the height above my succulents. It's actually one that is made to be mounted under a cabinet,i just hung it instead. It came with a off & on switch and just pulls into the wall.I simply bought a plant hanging kit with a extra long chain,2 S hooks to attach to the light & a hanger thats a circle w a screw on the end.My hubby screwed it in run the chain through.I hooked it onto the light with the 2 S hooks and wala i hope you get that sound never know how to spell sounds Rolling on the floor laughing The extra chain on each side i took paper clips & hooked the extra to the chain that's attached no extra chain hanging in the way.

How do i pick a light that's stronger or weaker if not by the T numbers??

I used to un-bend half of the last link in a chain , so that it formed a little hook. Then I could hook the dangly end out of the way.
