I go every year to our clubs succulent and cactus show but this is the first year that there has been a vendor selling adenium. It's also the first time I've seen any doubles or triples for sale here, or even any with colors outside the pink/red/white range. I was really excited until he started quoting me the prices. A bit steep for me, I don't think I've ever paid more than $50 pesos ($4us) for an adenium. He wanted $800 pesos ( a bit over $60us) for the lavender double and $600p (about $47us) for the other doubles. They are beautiful though, the double red was gorgeous and that lavender, well I was drooling.
Well Jonna you have been getting yours cheap, any of mine that I have purchased have been at least $30 and those were the common pink, and now that I have too many to care for I bet I can't get much for them.
Thanks Doris, that is what I was wondering. I had no idea what the prices are normally in the US so I didn't have any way to judge these prices. I've never seen the fancy hybrids here, I'm sure that is why they are expensive. I wish the seller well and hope he continues to sell in this area, one of these days I'm sure I'll give in and buy one.
My prices at the Pensacola farmers market is 5.00 for a small plant in a 3 1/2 inch pot,10.00 for a larger plant in a gallon pot,25.00 for a larger (4 inch caudex) in a clay pot and the sky is the limit for larger size plants.Oddly enough,I can't keep enough of the larger plants even though the prices start at 50.00 and go up rapidly from there. These are all common Obesums,Arabicums and Somalense grown from seed.I am hoping to order in some big quantities from south Florida in the spring.People seem to realize that it takes years to grow the big plants.
That's good to know, that means his price were really in line as these were both unusual and fairly large plants that had been grafted. Now I wish I had gotten his card

I just paid $35 for a nicely shaped Purple Thailand. Looked to be at least three years old. Oh! The Purple Thailand is up in the left corner. I was crossing it with the double ?? lavender, all the rest of the blooms in the photo.
