Ooh, an empty pallet! I'd have fun building little walls with rocks and making it multilevel, then letting semps and whatever else I could find at Timberline to fill in.

Great idea Tabby.
I see Sandi already has a lot of larger rocks that she can create micro climates with and just go crazy with different alpine plants, giving a little height, different textures and so only.

So this area gets shade in the morning mostly until around noon. I need more rocks for texture. Maybe you can come over Tabby and help me with the design. Lovey dubby I've put in a few rocks since I took the first picture.

Ok, this is just getting me into trouble!! I think on another thread I had posted about putting semps in "junk" I had, thent he thought of a topiary rushed my mind. After looking at these pic's more ideas! HOLY COW, my little brain is running wild. I have now cleared an area, going through stuff and have started planting. I will post a couple of pic's of where I am as soon as I can figure out why my phone/camera is being weird!

We are not really sure what she is, she looks like a labradoodle, well sort of, or ........well.......she did, her hair on her face and feet is really thick and sort of fuzzy, it grows in her eyes, sooooo....I played beauty shop and shaved her, turned out really good, then it grew fast again toward her eyes, again I played beauty shop, this time I thought I'd trim it closer...she was laying really good, then slung her head around and I sort of shaved a bit high, so that floppy silly hair on top is now gone and it looks like she has ponytails in because her ears are curly like the top of her head! But she is cooler and more comfy for sure, she just looks a bit silly! Rolling on the floor laughing

She is adorable Laura. She will probably get pretty big if she is a Labradoodle. There are quite a few of them around here. : )

Here are a few shots of what I have started, I have more semps, rocks and sedum to add to it. I have not filled all of the holes on the pot yet, wanted to see how well it would live like that first. I had a few sedum in a plastic pot started that I have just thrown in to see how it would look.

Any more ideas to add??? I still have room! LOL

She was trying to beat me to the door to run around on me when I went out to take the pics. The glowing eyes cracked me up, DEVIL DOG!! LOL Get big? Is that what you said Lyn? She's HUGE!! At the bottom of the picture is my Cairn Terrier mix, Zelda. Zelda weighs about 16 lbs, Zygi is already over 50!!

The purple dog crate is the medium size not the small, just to get an idea! LOLOL

Yep, they get big. Sticking tongue out And can be very sweet if raised correctly.

You have a great start going with those semps Laura. Just keep playing around until you come up with what works for you. I think that is how most of us have done with some ideas from seeing what others have done. It is so much fun.

Time to see how every ones semp beds are doing.
I thinned mine out last fall, sure glad I did. Will have to be doing that again later this summer.
The new bed I started last summer is really taking off this spring. It was so much fun adding some small type alpine plants to this new bed.
