Dill, what does it mean when a cucumber is burpless?

For many people, cucumbers react with stomach acids to produce gases which results in burping. The "burpless cucumbers do not produce this effect or at least to a lesser degree. Not all people experience this phenomena, but for those who do, "Burpless" is a big selling point.
