The Cybershot is probably outdated now compared to the newer technology, even in mobile phones. I don't have a mobile phone, don't need one either. I started with a Sony DSC V1! I needed a camera and lens which could take photos of small insects, that's when I advanced to a Nikon D40X but for a start I used a 70-200mm lens which was no good for close up shots, you had to stand miles away! Then came the prime 105mm lens and 2x teleconverter which I used with the D40X until that wore out, I had taken over 130,000 shots with it.
Funny that you should have both Sony and Nikon too! I never used the Sony once I got the DSLR, it had been good to learn to use a digital camera and that didn't at first seem easy. Thinking back, I really don't know how I got to where I am, I guess I needed to and was determined to do it.
If you really want to learn how to use your D90 you have to get your head around the settings, look at the paper manual, try things, the paper manual is not easy to follow. When I first got the D40X I was horrified, almost sent it back! Nope, had to master that monster or I would never progress. ). No, I sold it when roll film became to expensive after that I have been fighting with these digital ones. Yes I have a D90, 18-105mm and prime lens of 50mm. My problem is the readout so I am also using it in manual mode. Plus I was more used to point and shoot. Adjustment problems I suppose, it was a big leap.
Also if you can manage shifting between far vision and near vision glasses on the fly
