I noticed this one isn't in your database! Checkout http://squawmountaingardens.co...
then product search for "Karo" and you'll see what looks to be a very pretty semp!
I'll send photos next week (if it lives up to the website's photo!) Ciao

Hi Greg Welcome! Nice to have you join us! (I saw your introduction in the Kevin Vaughn Hybridizing Clinic thread.)

I love those cute little rollers too! Smiling It's amazing how far away from the hen some of the roll. I've already had to pull them out of clumps of other semps they've gone to "visit".

Sounds like you've got a great bunch of semps on order from SMG. SMG is a wonderful company to deal with and has fantastic plants. You'll be very happy with them. Looking forward to seeing pictures when you've got some time.

Greg, I was so impressed with the beauty of Karo that I forgot to tell you that you can go to the database and make a new entry for Karo. If you do it you will earn an acorn. Hurray!
My first named semps came from SMG, Don is wonderful to do business with. My last order for this year came from him. One of the is Gingerbread Boy. I can't wait for next year to see it as a more mature plant. Hurray!

Aren't they lovely?? I am going to add to database, but have some questions...I'll try first and see what I can figure out :P (questions are do I need to know everything about the cultivar when entering it? If its a semp, can I just cut/paste the info from another entry and change pertinent info like size/year etc...)
Cheers

Oh they are lovely Greg.
Just go to the database and click on 'Add a new plant to the database. This is what will pop up.
Thumb of 2012-11-29/valleylynn/6b5fe6

Primary common name: is Hen and Chicks
Genus: Sempervivum
Species: Leave this one blank, as Karo is a hybrid, not a species.
Cultivar: Karo

The other ones you won't fill in.
The general information for sempervivum will automatically be added when the semp is entered into the database.

Can't wait to see your new entry. Hurray!

Lynn thanks so much!! Hooray, I'm also adding several Streptocarpus...one of which is my "avatar" but in doublechecking the labels that I have with the internet I'm finding that several of my plants are probably mislabled, I received them all from the same source via Ebay, so don't know that the person was reliable Sad I'm adding the names but won't add my photos since they may be incorrect - Oh well
Thanks for all your help...when/if I join for the Semp class with Kevin I'll bring you some of the Karo, or in the spring I'll send you some, its a gorgeous little plant and it would be a way for me to say thanks to you!
Cheers
Hurray!

Big Grin
I've been having dreams of these little guys (semps are invading!) There is something so special about them, I think because they're uniform while being individual...each one reacts so readily to its personal environment but to look at them they so often look like a perfect circle surrounded by other perfect circles! (you see I've been giving it waaay too much though! Rolling on the floor laughing )
Cheers and thanks
Greg

Hi Chris and Lynn, since this is now "completed" how do I delete the tread, or what happens? (I've seen when people are asking for ID's the thread gets marked as "done" but don't see how to do that...Just curious
Thanks for all your good work both of you (and I can tell a lot of others too!) I tip my hat to you.

We generally don't delete threads Greg, and only the moderators or Dave and Trish can do that. This way the photos will remain as a nice ID so others can enjoy them too.
