My roses are coming in this week (in theory). I haven't received notification that they're to be shipped out, but I haven't a doubt in the world that they're being shipped out. And with my weather in the 60s in the day & mid-upper 30s at night, it's gonna be perfect for fall planting.

Anyone else do the ordering for now? Anyone gotten notification of them being shipped? I sent Rachel an EM asking if they're to be shipped as my weather this week's perfect, but have a couple of cold days next week (highs in the low 30s, lows in the single digits) and I really want to get them in the ground before then.

EDIT: got an email back from Rachel.. they should be at the warehouse to go out today, but w/Thanksgiving on Thursday, I may not get them until Monday. So I'm asking her how long can they last in the bag as next Tuesday I have a coldfront coming through for a couple of days, then it warms right back up. What *is* it with this wacky weather? November is traditionally one of our snowiest months...

I'm also looking forward to mine!!

We stopped in at Chamblees on Saturday, and I picked up a few (ummmm...10, I think *Blush* ) I'm furiously rearranging and planting in anticipation of getting the Chamblees and Palatines in the ground!

Wow, Trish! That's quite an assortment, running the gamut of colors and petal counts. Can't wait to see photos of all of them this season.

I guess I'd better dig a few more planting holes. I have four ready, but there are eight roses coming soon from Palatine.

That Elizabeth of Goshen is very pretty, but don't like that it's scentless.. so that might have poopoo'd it for me. I Lovey dubby Koko Loko.. it's a wonderful rose! You got a very nice assortment!

Got another update from Rachel... we decided that we're gonna try to hold off til next week but not sure if UPS had already picked it up. So my roses are in limbo!

I may not have gotten Butterfly Magic since the 5 petal is my least fav, but it was 2.50 so who could refuse?!!

Really! A rose for $2.50! Who cares how many petals it has? It just might turn out to be one of your favorites.

Trish - I don't blame you, for $2.50, I probably would have snabbed it too.

My roses will be shipped out next week. As long as I get them in the ground by the 2nd, I should be OK.

Elizabeth of Goshen is fragrant, by the way. Not a lot of scent, but some.

Zuzu - Oh, when I checked HMF, it said none to mild fragrance. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... But at the same time, I've learned to be wary of HMF w/scent. Sonia stinks to high hell to me, I can't STAND the stench, but HMF says that it smells good: Mild, fruity fragrance. To me, it smells like pepper very very badly & the scent sticks to my hands even if I wash them!

"None to mild" usually means mild. There is a box to check for "none/no fragrance" when people enter data on HMF, so if someone doesn't choose that option, it means there is fragrance, but maybe not much.

Zuzu- Chamblee's often has a nice section of roses that are $2.50 or $5.00. They are the culls, I guess, but with the exception of one of them (that had some rust), they look just like the other 1 gals. They also said that they hadn't been fertilized like the others. It's a great way to get roses for cheap! It's probably a good thing that the nursery is really out of the way for me!
I will say, though....the Austins and the 2 gals that I bought, I was pretty disappointed in their roots. I was so happy with the healthy roots from spring that I didn't bother to check them at the nursery, but sure wish I had! They had obviously been potted up very recently, and didn't begin to fill out the pots they were in. Since I averaged only $10 per rose, I can't complain too much, but I sure will check them next time!

Toni- I'm sorry you are having to wait a bit longer!

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Just got the UPS notification that my roses are on their way! Hopefully they'll be here by Friday. Today's a COLD day.. high of only 33 (and that was at like 745am this morning!), but the rest of the week looks wonderful! Now I need to dig holes!

I hope the grinch doesn't get mine. The local news showed how a home security videocam caught a woman walking brazenly onto a porch and stealing some packages that had just been left by the front door. She had been following the UPS truck and was stealing everything the driver left at every home.

That's terrible, zuzu!!!

Just so I don't create a riot, I'm going to quietly whisper that I received my order today... Whistling then I'll go around the corner to do my happy dance. Hurray!

Trish - Sticking tongue out Sticking tongue out Sticking tongue out Sticking tongue out Sticking tongue out Sticking tongue out Sticking tongue out

Actually, I could have gotten mine last week, or possibly today, but with a cold front that came through, I didn't want to chance 'em, so I opted for them to hold another week. But that's a lot better than holding until next April!!

Oh, boy! How do they look, Trish? I'm going to assume mine will come tomorrow or the next day, given a day or two of extra traveling to get to the West Coast.
