One of the useful qualities of Poison Ivy is food for the wildlife, especially birds, they love the seeds.
I volunteer at a wildscape restoration and we have a lot of it, we have to be careful and avoid touching it.
We have a volunteer who is not allergic to it and he comes regularly to remove as much as possible from around the paths
to keep visitors safe.
I have never been affected by it, but I am careful to avoid it, maybe I am not allergic to it, but I am afraid to test it, so I guess I will just keep avoiding it.

Yes, I hadn't thought about that. I am so allergic to it that I have to think hard to consider it being useful in any way ... although I know it is. nodding

I am looking for seeds of I. pallida if anyone has any.

Do like this Tee, enter into Google search "Rhus Tox" short for poison Ivy and the nomenclature used by herbalists. Now look at the properties, take your time I know the list is long Whistling . Old age, aches and pains. By the way this poison Ivy is not a true Ivy but bad mouthing the Ivy family.
Regards,
Masud.

Thumbs up Mostly remedies for the plant's rash here. Green Grin! Yes, it isn't a true ivy. There is also poison oak and poison sumac. All can cause terrible rashes.

Yes Tee, but they are also drugs waiting for future scientists to find new alkaloids for treating ailing humanity. So, please do look after them.

I agree, but that is a hard sell for most people here. They don't want anything to do with it.

We have a city park here in Arlington that is basically all poison ivy, the only safe areas were the paths, I was amazed when i saw it. I hope they will make an effort to reduce the numbers of it there. Rolling my eyes.

Whistling I think plants also have some rights in the order of things. Shrug! Humans are the ones causing most of the problems for other creatures, how about spraying them? Maybe the planet may take a sigh of relief.

Humans, we are worse then cute little bunnies/mice taking/expanding into the space reserved for other creatures. Spay or spray, both the terms serve the purpose.
I am allergic to pollen, locks up my breathing. Should I get rid of all grasses including wheat, barley and other grasses? Does not sound logical.
Regards,
Masud.

For better or worse, human beings are all we have to work with. I'm not sure anyone was suggesting getting rid of all of any kind of plant. Shrug!

Please don't ask me how they ended up here. Maybe the birds have a hand in distributing them but there is a bunch of them getting ready to flower. This is Bellis perennis, so maybe there might be no controversy.
Tee, the end result is the same and any way Lori is correct, I am not advocating the end of humanity just please take it easy with the planet. We are all involved and guilty.

Masud.
