It is an easy fix for me to change the species from "x hybrida" to "hybrida" across the board for an entire genus. I just need the okay to go and I'll do it.

As for the F1 Hybrid business, that information belongs in a checkbox field in the databox architecture.

Joanne, I don't think you should worry about what I'd want. Hilarious! Several of the moderated sections of the database have idiosyncracies that don't conform to the "accepted" standards. I have to admit that the Rose and Clematis databases don't follow all of the ATP rules. Smiling If you ask me whether something's an accepted name, I'll answer to the best of my ability, but it doesn't mean I'm demanding that your section of the database conform to my reply.

Thanks Zuzu. I will finish entering the other varieties and confirm a few more different Tradenames under the same cultivar and look at the species thing again. As mentioned, almost all the patent documents that I have seen use x hybrida. I will just carry on and we can look at this again after Christmas

Patent documents aren't filled out by botanists, Joanne, so don't look to them as a guide. Use whatever seems best to you. I personally wouldn't put anything on the species line for anything that isn't a species Petunia. We know most Petunias are hybrids, just as we know most roses are. I don't think that information is crucial except in the case of species Roses and Petunias.
