Little Thankgivings

By Sharon
November 22, 2012

Winter celebrations were all strung out like beads on a necklace, one right after the other. It was difficult for a child to tell one from the other since most of them were all covered in snow, but I always knew Thanksgiving followed closely on the edges of my birthday.

Hi Masud,

Thank you. Did you ever participate in a Thanksgiving dinner when you lived in the states?

And by the way, I really enjoy seeing all the plants you share with us as well as all those interesting terra cotta containers. Beautiful!

Hello Sharon and why should I not have participated, of course I did in everything and I enjoyed every second. Thank you about the plants and I have fond memories. It was a small town and every body knew every one else and there were no restrictions on me as such. Simple folks, simple days, don't know about now.
Regards,
Masud.

Great! I'm glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving, it's my favorite time of year and my favorite holiday. Also glad you have fond memories of your time here.

Small towns are the best. I grew up in one and now live in another one. There seems to be less pressure among people in small towns. How long has it been since you were in the US?

I love the mountains I see in your pictures.

When did I leave, 1970. That is a long time back but the memories are still there. Reading your article took me back, Thanksgiving and that area have a special symbiotic relationship with each other. Plymouth was close by.
My writing style has become disjointed. Sorry Sharon excuse me.
Regards,
Masud.

Plymouth and Thanksgiving truly do make for a symbiotic relationship.

You have no reason to apologize for your writing style, it's all perfectly clear and enjoyable to me. Smiling

No, you caught me by surprise and I was lost for words. Nostalgia does that. Like a scab being picked at. Any way life goes on and getting over things is a part of it.

Masud-- I enjoy reading your posts. You have no need to worry about your english. I really hope you will continue to share with us. There is no better time than Thanksgiving to share with each other, and be thankful for what we have--even if our background/lifestyle is very different than our neighbor/friend/internet buddy. I am thankful for all of the friends I have made on ATP, and hope to count you among them.

I love Masud's posts too. I think we are all fascinated by plants that grow in far away places, and are particularly fascinated when we find a kindred spirit who lives there and who can tell us all about them. ATP ties us all together no matter where we live.

Linda, you just had a birthday! I hope it was great and that you have a beautiful year ahead.

Just now reading this story full of memories.
Sharon, I could almost feel the heartbeat of your secret tree. I love every minute spent in reading this story.
Funny, I did not feel like crying at all, just smiling about the feast set out for the wild creatures and getting to 'see' Ninna's loving response to you. It warmed my heart to say the least.

Musad you have nothing to apologize for, you are such a joyful presence in our ATP community. I am thoroughly enjoying every post you make. Smiling

I'm so glad you didn't cry, Lynn. You 'got it'. My times with Ninna were happy times and she taught me things I didn't know I needed to know. She was the best teacher.

Thanks for letting me know. Smiling

It sounds so much like my grandma. She taught me in the same manner. I wanted to grow up to be just like her.

You were, indeed....

I can't speak for the others, but MY tears were because you brought me into your heart -- I *shared* your excitement and joy at being able to provide the critters pretty dishes for their holiday meal, and that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach when you slipped and mentioned the tree at dinner, and that other sinking feeling when you realized that Ninna had missed her dishes, and they were special to her. Then the relief because she totally understood.

If Ninna had yelled at you, I wouldn't have cried, but the gentle understanding she displayed is so very precious that it made my heart melt. Thumbs up
