Well, I blew my Christmas budget on myself. First time ever. I have bought Christmas gifts for family first, but I try to get done shopping by end of October. That way, I can just sit back & laugh at people (DH) who wait to the last second (this year, he'll probably be shopping on Christmas Eve. Again. Must be a guy thing.) Anyways, I wanted to know how much my order with Roses Unlimited was, and what was I getting? as I did it over the phone this year and not via email like normal. And this is what I'm getting:

Florence DeLattre http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
Lavender Dream http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
Twilight Tryst http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (I bought this this year, but I killed it Sad )
English Perfume http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (Zuzu's fault)
Cajun Moon http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
Natasha Monet http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (accidentally killed this one, too)
Silver Shadows http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
Solitude http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (I just hope mine's half as beautiful as this one)
Buxom Beauty (a.k.a. Parole) http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
Brilliant Veranda (a.k.a. Brilliant Flower Circus) http://www.helpmefind.com/gard...
Veldfire http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (accidentally killed this one from Pickering this year)
Lady X http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (super close to Sterling Silver, but still gorgeous)
Star of the Nile x2 http://www.rdrop.com/~paul/mod... (thanks Alan!)
New Year http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... (mine passed away.. sad little "bodybag" rose that didn't make the winter)

All said and done, almost $400 in roses. But that's it on my rose shopping for the year, I think.

Until Zuzu, Alan, & Calif-Sue shows me something else I can't live without. LOLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Whistling Whistling Whistling

Once you smell the fragrance of Star of the Nile, you will be lost, floating in a Nile garden pool fit for a queen. No kidding! The most beautiful rose fragrance to every touch my nose. Smells most wonderful in the late afternoons. Sometimes in the morning, I couldn't even smell it. Looks like a fine collection. That English Perfume looks delightful too.

Got in my order on Friday.. but it's been in the 20s at night & 40s in the day, so I'm holding off until Monday to finally put them in the ground. I cracked open one box because one of my cats crawled on top & his fat butt busted through the tape... *swoon!!!* Drooling Drooling Drooling Drooling

Kitty, I'm so impressed w/ your list. I had forgotten about RU, when all i've gotten from them has done great. Well, must be due to my running out of real estate. However, your list has convinced me that MAYBE, just MAYBE, I can squeeze a couple more. I am not optimistic but I have written them asking for availability on Natasha Monet, plus I found they may have Marco Polo which I can plant in my garden as the DH rose. Marco Polo is yellow, his fave color. I think this is the one that should be in my garden. Hope RU has it but not holding my breath as it is so late in the season.

I have given up on my quest for Apricot Sunblaze. Marco Polo is better anyway, being yellow and all.

Nery, isn't it almost time for the annual RU sale? Sometimes the roses are half-price and sometimes they're 3 for the price of 2. I'd hold out until then if I were you. I think they always have a sale in May.

Sorry, Nery. I gave you a bum steer. The RU sale is always in June. In 2009 they had two sales: one in June and another one in August. Every other year they've only had a big sale in June. You might not want to wait that long.

I'll be putting in my babies (well, some of them as I *HURT*.. did a LOT of yardwork moving rock around on Sunday, in addition to the planting of 4 lilacs, 2 trees, 7 roses, 6 salvias, 2 silvermounds, and dug out two HUMUNGO Russian Sages) in the ground tonight/tomorrow.. that first box I think were the only ones to have blossoms. But the weather's *finally* turned warm (in the 60s-70s all week finally) and I want to get them in the ground before it rains again. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I can't wait!!!

thanks Z for the tip. I'm in no hurry, so I may wait. RU has not responded yet so nothing is final so far.

Last week was in the 90s and I was wondering how I was going to survive summer. Being overheated from April thru Sep. was nothing I was looking forward to. Bad enough to have to suffer from June -Sep. Then this week I'm wearing a thin cardigan b/c it's that cool, like May's supposed to be around here. Meterorological insanity.

Kitty, rain sent this way will be welcome.

here is Mrs. Robinson which I got from either Cliff or Vintage, don't remember. Zu, you had said I'd love and I do.

What a good photo, Nery. Isn't it a sweet thing? I loved mine when it bloomed and I knew you would love it too. We bought it from Cliff. Vintage may be selling it now, but Cliff was the only one selling it when we bought it.

Cliff created the rose. I talked to him about it a little and he said it's really special to him. He named it after a very good friend of his.

I have one, too. It's in its second season and grows very well on its own roots.

It does grow well on its own roots, I agree, Steve. Cliff did a good job.

I think I'm getting Natasha Monet, Brilliant Veranda and Buxom Beauty. There is no "nery" rose so buxom will have to serve as my namesake. very fitting....the buxom part, that is.

Kitty, I have Cl New Year and it looks just like the one you ordered. I'm thinking that mine isn't really a cl. but rather a shrub, which is totally fine w/ me.

I will ck out the June sale if I decide to create a new bed, which I swore up and down I was not gonna do.

Damn.
Damn damn damn.

You know, when it gets to be the middle of May, you'd expect the weather to warm up just a little bit. I did pile the mulch up around everyone, but I still think I lost a couple of roses... Buxom Beauty & Pure Poetry lost all their leaves. The canes are still green all the way down almost to the dirt (I buried them about 18" down each), but.. *cries*
