The East Bay, across the bay from San Francisco, is Bougainvillea heaven. They cover some of the houses there.

I'm intrigued by the new container-sized ones. The guys at bigbadflower.com developed these Sunvillea plants that grow only 2-3 feet and start blooming earlier than the large Bougainvilleas.

I lived in the Fremont area and if I hadn't kept pruning that Bougainvillea back hard it would have covered the house in no time. Hilarious!
