~ Editing my original post to say the plant in question has been identified as Resnova humifusa

I purchased this little $3.00 plant at a recent plant sale because it reminded me of Ledebouria plants I had long ago. It had the name "Little White Soldiers" printed on the side, nothing more. The lady selling them said that's the only name she knew for it and that it would have stalks with little white flowers. I've seen a plant named Drimiopsis maculata with the common name of "Little White Soldiers" but I have a heck of a time trying to compare photo's for identification ... and the photo's that I've viewed on-line don't seem to quite match my plant, possibly due to age, growing conditions etc.

When I searched the ITIS site for both Ledebouria and Drimiopsis it came back "No Records Found" ... so, I'm not sure what Genus those have been moved to.

I know I will more likely be able to get an exact ID when the plant puts out blooms, but I don't know when that will be Smiling so I'm hoping someone might recognize this from the foliage and be able to point me in the right direction.

It looks like Drimiopsis maculata to me. Tropicos has that genus listed but from the 1800's. I think it's now the genus Resnova?

Are all Drimiospis now considered to be in the genus Resnova?

There are many listings in the database for Drimiopsis: http://garden.org/plants/searc...

and, a handful for Resnova: http://garden.org/plants/brows...

Janet, Thanks for the links! I meant to go to the KEW site and got sidetracked. *Blush*

According to GRIN, the Drimiopsis species are now synonyms of Ledebouria species. I'll work on that later today in our database.

Resnova humifusa is also a synonym of a Ledebouria species now, according to GRIN. ITIS is useless in this case because it doesn't acknowledge the existence of Drimiopsis, Resnova, or Ledebouria. Crying
