I'm so NOT good at comparing photo's and so many ferns look alike but it might be a Microsorum. It reminds me of my Micorsorum diversifolium, commonly called "Kangaroo Paw Fern":

Kangaroo Paw Fern (Lecanopteris pustulata subsp. pustulata)

Microsorum pustulatum has the 'pustule' bumps on top of the leaves.. ..

That name is unresolved on the Plant List, are they the same plant?

http://www.theplantlist.org/tp...

Microsorum diversifolium is also unresolved ..

Phymatosorus scolopendria is accepted..

Phymatosorus grossus ..

I think it is Phymatosorus pustulatus syn. = Microsorum diversifolium but has that changed to Microsorum diversifolium again? The date is August 2011.

Janet: All these genus changes is so confusing to me. After looking more closely at Paul's second photo I'm not so sure that it's the same fern as mine. Maybe you can help with the current/correct ID of my fern? I just went outside and looked closely at my plant. The pustule bumps on the top of the leaves are in direct correlation with the spores on the back side of the leaves. I just thought the bumps were caused by the spores pressing on the leaf, LOL. I've had this plant since @2004 labeled as Microsorum diversifolium ... so do you think this one is Phymatosorus pustulatus? Here are some pic's I just took:

That depends on which is the correct name Lin, some people think the Plant List is outdated but the Texas Uni site is recent so I would think it's now Phymatosorus pustulatus. The spore pattern does fit, and yes it does give the impression of pustules on the surface.

I bet there are many sites/lists that are not up to date ... with things changing so often I guess it's a real chore to keep things current. I was going to submit a database proposal to move M. diversifoliium over to Phymatosorus pustulatus but there isn't an entry for Phymatosorus yet.
