Thought I'd get this started, as I have the time. The weather here is up and down a lot: cold and some snow, then warm again. I hope we're on a warm again late next week!

It's kinda gloomy here, real low clouds, we may get showers or flurries, supposed to get colder here on Monday.

We're still having weather in the 80s every day, and no sign of rain.

Not quite so nice here, low 40's with light rain today, high wind warning for tonight and tomorrow, but still warmer than our usual for this time of the year. That's ok, we still have some ground we want to plow that was too dry about 10 days ago.

Mary, I always have to laugh when you talk about ground being too dry to plow. Here it is just the opposite, although we almost never plow in the fall. Right now, it's in the low 40s and raining - not really normal December weather here. I've started worrying about the weather more than Stan's surgery. 4 days out, it is looking not too bad. Erie is an hour drive. I guess we take what we get!

Kathleen, is Stan's surgery on the 5th? What is the reason that milking is a no-no after that but other farming activities are ok?

It's on the 6th. He will be on blood thinner for at least a time after the surgery and bumps and bruises, like those caused by cows, are to be avoided. He had planned on getting out of the milking end next year anyway, this is just pushing it a bit.

It's foggy here right now, and it was probably 60 today. Nice day. Still warm tomorrow, I guess, from what "they" are saying.

Friend Norma is taking Sale Barn duty tomorrow, then she and her hubby will be leaving for Branson for a few days. So, I will have Wed. and next Monday for sure. We'll fight out the next week when she gets back. LOL Oh, and I'll have feeder sale on Friday; can't say I'm looking forward to that.

Good luck to Stan on his "procedure" and that all goes well.

Stan now has a bovine mitral valve - appropriate. He was just starting to wake up when we left, but we wouldn't have been able to visit again until late, so they told us to come home and get some sleep. I intend to try.

I wish you both the best. These farmers can bounce back because they are usually in pretty good shape to begin with.

Sounds good. He'll do fine. Remember, he's young and healthy! I didn't know they used bovine valves in human heart surgery. Yes, very appropriate.

Stan is out of ICU and feeling more cheerful. We hope he can come home in the next couple of days. I am tired, but surviving nicely. The girls have been running me back and forth and a friend took me yesterday so they could both show up at their real jobs.

Thanks for all your prayers and happy thoughts

Tell Stan "good heath" from Wisconsin.

I guess we are going to Madison today to do some shopping.

Yesterday we dismantled the waterbed and tossed it out the door. LOL Well, we are going to try and keep the headboard and make that work, and "maybe" 6 drawers if they will slide underneath the new frame. We are getting one of those motion frames. SU said it really felt good on his back, and since he has some back issues, I guess we should have something that doesn't make him feel like a contortionist when he gets out of bed. Took the old pillows, which were getting flat and pancake-y, and said "cat beds". The old mattress pad............"cat beds". After looking at the comforter (which I have had for 28 years) I decided "cat beds". These will be barn cat "cat beds". I will have way more beds than cats, perhaps I should look into homing for felines.

Short day at Equity for me yesterday. Only 85 calves; and not all needed papers. And 7 feeder beasts that needed papers because they "moved out of state". LOL I was done a little before 3, so not quite a 2 hour stint. Feeder cattle sale was huge last Friday, almost 1200 head. It started at 11:30 and I didn't leave till 9. I was bombed. Another feeder sale this Friday, but I hope Norma can do that one. If not, I will go slog my way through again. Green Grin!

I was hoping no news was good news, and so it seems! I'm glad both of you are enduring the results of the surgery as well as possible.
