The entire back of our house has a large patio area. We cover about 20' off the game room in plastic for the winter. It's not enough room for everything, but keeps some special things from freezing. I'm still "arranging" it. We're having temps in the 80s this week. We've been leaving the side open for ventilation. I keep a hose attached to our rain tank for watering.

The rest is being stuffed into the side yard hoop house. I'm maybe 3/4 finished gathering large pots. We cover it in plastic when it gets cool enough. When I get it all in, I'll take better photos.

Most of the plumerias are packed in the garage. 'Still have hanging baskets to find room for.

Nice ideas using the hoops .. I had to buy another greenhouse because of all my tropicals .. I have all sorts of Elephant Ears and Tropical Hibiscus. The extra tropicals that don't like soil temps below 45 degrees like the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis are in the main greenhouse and the EE are in the 2nd greenhouse .. both are heated using the same system.

I really like those storage baskets under your pots on the ground! I have some of those that I can "re-purpose" to keep some pots off the concrete.
Always like to see new ideas for getting plants through the winter.

Keeping things off the ground helps with keeping the ants from moving into the pots and also helps with air circulation.. for the main greenhouse I made what I call "plant decks" which does the same thing. If you haven't thought of it already, fans are really necessary to help with high humidity and also slows down the algae growth. My fans are on timers and go on at 5pm til 10am the next day.

I also use the 'decks' outside during the growing season as it discourages the ants too.

Those are clever. I'll have to show my DH. We had ants this spring/summer. Crazy ants that swarmed everything, including pots. I've been watching the pots for them.
I've never had a fan in either hoop. When the sun is out and its relatively warm, I just roll the side up on the hoop. We have fairly mild winters, except for a few freezing nights. I haven't had any bugs...so far. I've been doing this for over ten years. I might just be lucky so far also.

I wish I had a setup like that. My plants are all the way IN. This is one room that only really has a purpose when plants are inside for winter. Otherwise, it's just a really big foyer.

I recognize lots of those plants! Nice that you have room to take them inside.

My plants are thriving indoors. We have had some leaf loss but other than that, they are all vying for the Lucky One who gets to stay indoors permanently. But what a crowded plant mess we have in here! I wish I had a better winter set up, too. Luckily our winters are short.
