In brief, not much is blooming in December. I ventured out with my camera after a series of storms with enough rain and wind to ruin most blossoms. The roses look pretty sad, but Madame Dieudonne held onto its blooms. Most of the other roses have gone to hips. These are the nice big hips Dortmund produces.

The Nerine is exploding all over the place. Rain can't hurt Nerine, and one silly iris decided to bloom now.

Many Azaleas are in bloom, but as usual, the blasted Arum is so tall that it's difficult to see the Azaleas. This first photo is Karen, which is tall enough to push some blooms above the Arum. The second photo doesn't look particularly impressive, but I'm very excited about it because it's the first time my Rhododendron 'Trewithen Orange' has bloomed in years. I've been growing it in a container and it hasn't responded well, so I moved it into the ground a few months ago and it's produced lots of buds.

This set of two photos is of Rhododendron stenopetalum 'Linearifolium.' It's more of a curiosity than a crowd pleaser. The blooms are hardly spectacular, but it really isn't grown for the blooms. It has interesting foliage.

Several of the Hydrangeas are still going strong.

By next week I should have some pretty Hellebores to post.

Lovely, Zuzu.

I wish my nerine would mulitply - they bloom every year, but the numbers stay the same.

Over 8 inches of rain here in less than a week so it's pretty mucky out in the yard but it's supposed to remain dry for a few days starting tomorrow. I will have to see how the garden looks, maybe take some shots.

Rained hard here this morning, but is now tapering down. Took some houseplants out for some rain, but will take them in later. So far my blooms this December are from my orchids.

That is a real eye catcher Sherry. There are many of the shrub type that will grow here year round. That one would be a nice addition. Lovey dubby

I didn't know that was possible.

This Gentian dinarica 'Montenegro' and Delosperma cooperii are still blooming in all this cold and rain. We've had one heavy frost about a week ago.

Gorgeous, Lynn. I haven't seen a single Gentiana bloom in my garden for at least a month. What a treat it is to see yours!

This is a late blooming one, but I don't think it was suppose to be this late. The blooms are damaged from all the wind and rain we've had. It still has some buds waiting to open.

That blue stands out like a beacon in the raised bed.

Thanks, Sue...for some reason 'Firecracker' came to mind....possibly because it would be so obvious......I'd admired one at a friend's house and she found one for me at our local little hardware store and grabbed it for me. I won't allow myself to look at other fuchsias because I don't want to start a 'collection'....lol..
