Wow, just beautiful, love all the roses. Your garden looks really big, Zuzu.

Lynn, great picture. How in the heck are you a grandma / great grandmother. Great pictures of the semp beds, so many in bloom.

Deb's garden is spectacular in person. Lots of fun things and the beauty of standing on the new patio looking over the pond into the trees is fantastic. Green Grin!

RC your place is great, I've seen pictures of all your raised beds.

Greg, do I have some questions for you about dogs. I can hardly walk 2!! My Nina is always lunging at other dogs. Very bad! Grumbling

Spring I agree !!
So is that your question (re:dogs)?? Its really challenging to change that behavior, but its usually about the dog (Nina) not feeling safe, for whatever reason. I've begun using "training treats" (using an old "chalk bag" from rock climbing, so it can clip to my waist) with one of my dogs, and as soon as I'm aware that she's seen something which is stressing her, I give her treats and she's been very responsive to this!! It doesn't change the behavior, it just makes her have 2 reactions to the stimuli (1 protective/aggressive and 2 "ooh a treat!!" ) Not sure what you've tried but I've tried lots with this dog, and this is the best thing that worked Sticking tongue out

I will try that, Good idea. She is so focused on the other dog. She pulls on the leash and walks in front of me too. Bad very bad but, I have not been able to change that either.
I got her when she was about 12-14 months old. Poor dear was living in a crate for days while the owner was at work. He worked for the railroad. She would get out once a day. Crying I've had her for 2 years but she has some baggage in that brain of hers but, I love her anyway. Don't we all have a bit of baggage. Shrug!

Rick you are a riot for sure. I would take your photo over Fabio any day.

Zuzu the photos of some of your roses are wonderful, I particularly enjoyed the ones with your cats. I love my old cat Suzie. She follows me all around while I work in the garden.
What ever happened to Evey? I haven't seen her around for a very long time.

Spring, had to go back and edit my above post. I only have 5 great grandchildren, not 6. Smiling
They come from my two oldest grandchildren. I am looking forward to my 70th birthday in 9 months. Hurray!

Beautiful roses! I will make a better stab at mine this year - I have a mish-mash of roses that I dug up last season and put into one spot - along a fence in full sun with good air flow. Some were rejects from others and I think I will toss them as well - very prone to disease/bugs. The few I have bought myself I do like - resistant floribundas. I underplanted them with strawberries which was a nice treat, not sure if I'll stick with that or not. Your photos have given me inspiration to give them another chance. That is the nice thing about these forums, I often overcome my prejudices against certain plants by seeing how well they do for others. Still working on my dislike of primroses... squatty little buggers.

SC, I do know there are beautiful primroses out there, and I will take you up on a chunk. My experience with them has been impulse buys at the grocery store just to get some color in early spring. They are jolly for the first season, but after that (for me) they mostly revert to dark purple with tiny blooms, after which the foliage just looks scrappy. I really should try some from a nursery - I've seen some gorgeous pictures of the taller ones in naturalized drifts.

I have not had much luck with primroses. I do love them, they just don't seem to like my garden. I think the slugs love them to much. *Blush*

Springcolor, my lot is only half an acre, but I think I've crammed 3 acres' worth of plants into it. That makes it look bigger because there's almost no clear line of sight anywhere.

Lynn, I think Evey just lost interest in the whole thing after she shut down her clematis nursery. I haven't heard from her in ages.

God, I love primroses! I wish you would add those pictures to the database, Springcolor. We're short on photos in that section of the database. Primroses do appeal to slugs and snails, Lynn, but at least they're rabbit and deer resistant.

I'm going to start pruning my roses today. I hope to finish before the end of the year. They never really go dormant here, but I think they do better with a dormant period, so I have to trick them into dormancy by pruning them and removing the leaves.

Beautiful! I love primroses. I bought some really nice ones last year from Sequim Rare Plants. They have a good selection, and the plants they sent me were really nice.

Slugs don't seem to eat the English Primroses, one reson I love them. The Lavender one is an English double. Zuzu I will add pictures to the data base, but some just don't have names any more. The pictures are from last year. I will see what I can do!!
I have this theory: If you add lots of plants in a garden there is less room for weeds to grow! Hilarious!

I agree with that too. I don't use mulch. I'd rather control weeds by filling the spaces between plants with other plants. Some get too aggressive and have to be pulled out, but there's a long list of well-mannered ones that don't obscure the main plants and shrubs.
