Thought I'd steal the idea from other forums for a monthly bloom thread, only in our case we often get our color from foliage and berries. My holly is full this year - this was a small transplant I took from my childhood woodlot in north Seattle when we first moved to the country. It's now about 20' tall.

Greg, I don't know the particular cultivar of that little stonecrop, but it is likely a very common one. It pops up all over in my garden and I often just let it be a groundcover wherever it decides to land. Probably travels on my shoes or tools. White flowers. Does best in full sun but tolerates some shade. Pretty much evergreen, as you can see. Really likes to tumble over the rocks, and then grows in the cracks of the cement below. Happy little plant.

No, it has no scent whatsoever (that I can discern). It's not as viney as a regular jasmine either, kind of a sprawling shrub, re-roots where the ends touch the ground. I have it up against a fence which gives it some support. It starts blooming in December and usually goes until Feb/March, so a nice jolly spot of color in an otherwise drab time. Flowers emerge first, then the leaves. I usually find a bird nest in it when I do fall clean-up, so a good cover for the critters.

I forget where I originally posted my thought to put up a bird tree this season, but here's a couple snaps of it (not the best focus but the birds kept flying off when I approached the deck doors). My granddaughter and I had a fun time cutting stars out of stale bread, hanging birdseed balls and sliced oranges, and tossing popped corn directly into the branches. Turned out well. Think it's my new tradition...
