Good choices, Steph. Those all perform well in my garden too.

I really think I need a bill warner. I never see that rose for sale at any nurserys though, and I am at the one rose at a time limit so online orders have to be really cost effective.

I bought a Don Juan Climbing Rose yesterday. The smell of the blooms is so amazing. I remembered seeing it in this list and that sealed the deal. The color of the blooms is so dark.

My main rule now is that my roses must have fragrance. Does Bees Knees have a rose scent? As far as I'm concerned a rose without fragrance is defective. LOL.

I like it too. I might have to change my scent requirements.

I'm so glad that Steph posted FOURTH OF JULY as a favorite. I had it but it was not happy at all with me, so I gave it to my friend -- and look what happened!

It look soooooo great now, and I just wish it had been even partially this happy with me. It really is an amazing climber!

I have never seen a bad Forth of July, it's a healthy, happy great plant! Too bad it wasn't happy with you, maybe a bad location?

OH this is DEFINITELY worth a bump. I'll have to post pics of my favs now that I've had some roses in the ground for a few years...

#5 Solar Flash - purely for color.. one of the brightest roses I have.

#4 Mardi Gras - My oldest rose.. a "Old Faithful" for me. Constantly in bloom when it's awake & not winter, smells nice, good vase life..

#3 English Perfume - Love the full flowers (huge flowers.. 3-4" on a tiny plant!), wonderful smell, bad vase life though Thumbs down

#2 Melody Parfumee - Love the color, very strong grower, generous bloomer, smells HEAVENLY, good vase life

#1 Blue Bayou - Hands down my absolute favorite rose. Almost true blue color, good scent, good vase life, very generous in blooming

I wish we could do a top 25, but I think that'd be overwhelming. I'd add in the list Othello, Duftsrausch, Charisma, Blue Girl, Singin in the Rain, Poseidon, Tardi Gris, Mr. Lincoln, Honeysweet, California Dreamin', Red Intuition, Tuscan Sun, Yankee Doodle, Vista, Winter Magic, Oshun, Kordes Brilliant, Remember Me, Koko Loko, Macho Man... and the list goes on & on & on...

Toni, I like the addition of rating vase life of your selections, that is information not routinely included when commenting on rose virtues.

Pam,

I believe it's Brass Band.

If you scroll down to the bottom of your page you'll see a link titled "Today's site banner..." It's there that you can read the title and often the name of the plant featured in each day's banner. Smiling
