I got this HEAD.
It's huge, and full of black seeds.
I am pretty sure it's some kind of Allium.

Anyone knows a good way to germinate these?

Depends on what kind it is, I guess. Clothier says:
Allium amethystinum, and hollandicum , Sow at 4ºC (39ºF), germ. erratic

Allium ampeloprasum , amphibolum, caeruleum, mairei, schoenoprasum, senescens, sikkimensis, and splendens, Sow at 20ºC (68ºF), germinates in less than two wks

Allium karataviense , Sow outdoors in the fall for spring germ. , Short lived seed, sow at once.

Allium neapolitanum, and ramosum (odorum) , Sow at 22ºC (72ºF) under constant humidity

Allium tanguticum, and tuberosum , Sow at -4 to +4ºC (24-39ºF) for 6 wks, move to 20ºC (68ºF) for germination

Sounds like a good candidate for wintersowing.

LOL, Alison, very helpful :)

Yup,Karen. Sounds like I should try 3 ways. Wintersow (let pot freeze), fridge, and maybe keep some for spring?

Shrug!

Cain, I don't know about your weather. Here in Ohio, I don't mess with my winterown stuff at all. I put the milk jugs outside in Jan. or Feb. when our weather is coldest, and just leave them there until spring until (most) sprout. No refrigerator. There's alternate freezing and thawing, usually many times.

Which tune?

Karen, I'd say we get pretty much the same weather.
I also did some WS last winter. Some really good results, some pots without a trace of green.
It happens.

I'll give WS a try with these.
Looks like I will need a lot of patience, it worst scenario happens.

Yes, me too. Some things just don't sprout. But overall survival rate is higher for my wintersown things than my indoor seeds.
