when I come to this site, it opens on the forums tab. How can I make it open on the Home tab? I've looked in "Your Profile/Site <something>", where you specify whether you want to jump to new messages, etc. Nothing there that I can see.

I wonder if you are accessing it from a bookmark or shortcut that you made that points directly to the forums? If you go to http://garden.org/ and save that as the shortcut or bookmark, then you'll be taken to the homepage every time.
