Apple Pan Dowdy

By Sharon

Long, long years ago when our colonists made their way across the ocean, they brought with them valuable things. One of those valuable things was the apple seed. From those seeds came so many different apple colors, textures and flavors, it's difficult today to make a choice.

I loved the story Sharon ! Thumbs up My childhood was spent in Michigan and we had an apple tree in our front yard ! I loved that tree ! I loved cutting open the tiny little apples and inspecting the insides ! Hilarious! My favorite time was the spring and those wonderful blossoms ! Sadly my family moved to Arizona when I was a teen and that wonderful old tree , which by then was being attacked my tent caterpillars, was left behind. Sad I missed it so.

Years later my husband, knowing how much I loved apple trees , gave me one of my best surprises. He was a UPS driver to the rural more mountainous areas of southern Arizona. One evening he arrived home with several branches in full bloom of apple blossoms off of one of those mountain apple trees !!! Hurray! It was an incredible gift to me !! I will never forget that evening ! Lovey dubby

I always look for Michigan apples, Linda. They have just enough of the right kind of weather to have the very best apples. Next I love those from Washington state, too.

What a great gift from your husband. I know exactly how you felt. I'm going to be so upset when this one beside my house dies away. I know I don't have enough time left to grow another one from seed, but I guess I could try.

Don't you just love good memories?
Thank you, Linda!
