None of the serviceberry bushes I have grown have been trees , more like small lilacs. However I have seen some used in landscaping in town that are like small trees kinda like crabapple shaped and redbud size.
I do eat the berries and dry them for use in the winter ...if I can beat the birds to them.
That size sounds good. I didn't want anything too tall. I want them for the berries for the birds ... and for us too. I'm glad to know you like them. I can't recall as I've ever tasted them. Thanks for the input.

We only have one Serviceberry that is native to Texas, Amelanchier arborea, http://wildflower.org/plants/r...
Which variety do you have? It sounds very nice.
