My peonies are long gone, so it is nice to see all of the beautiful photos from the cooler parts of the country.

Beautiful peonies Brian. I love Bartzella, 2nd year in my Garden, it didn't bloom this year, and the 1st year with Hillary for me.

Thanks, Jan for the Coral Sunset picture.
I have just planted one this year and wondered if it should be coral or will it be a shade of pink?
Yours is definitely coral.

Shannon & Diann, I really don't do much of anything with my entire garden. I deadhead to prevent seeds, clean up the debris in the fall and spread a good layer of chopped up leaves and compost over my garden. Fortunately I haven't seen any evidence of undesirable tunnelling creatures nor do I have a problem with those monster slugs I've seen in warmer clime. My soil is naturally deep and fertile. In the spring I'll cut back the dead branches and spread some pelleted chicken manure before growth starts but that's it. I did put a well ventilated pot over a new one last fall only to prevent being trampled by a couple dogs (and my father Rolling my eyes. )
