Not much has changed in my yard in the past few weeks. The winter jasmine remains in bloom, and I still have holly berries. The only other color is my Dawn viburnum, which I believe I posted on another thread somewhere. Here's another photo of it just to start things out. Hoping some of you will have hellebores opening soon - mine is a later variety, doesn't usually get flowers until Feb or Mar.

Yes, please SC. I need to research some earlier varieties to add to my beds, preferably those of the upfacing variety. The only one I do have is a NOID beauty but one has to tip its head to see the full bloom.

I have some of mine planted on a rockery so I can look up at them. There are so many varieties out, hard to choose. I hope some of my doubles flower this year!! They remind me of a ballerina.

"Ice Breaker Gala' & 'Maestro'
Both of these are new this year so this may not be the real bloom time. Planted in Oct. Found these at McDaniels Hardware in Snohomish.

Here's a pretty boulder we found out in our woods with some nice color to it. Along with a brave little sedum (if you open the picture) and a bit of moss.

Rolling on the floor laughing Deb, I leave my christmas lights up all year long, they're the little white "fairy" lights all twinkle - so I figure I can turn them on or not whenever I need that added "joy"! Hurray! I have faith that these forsythia are going to do amazing things in another week...I keep changing the water out so it should be good! Thumbs up

haha - yes but not amazingly...just barely, but it did give out several green growths, so I guess I'm going to spread forsythia around the edge of my yard - a trouble spot where nothing grows, I know it will grow there! Hurray!

I've been checking daily on a 'rescue' witch hazel I dug out of my sister's yard (horribly pruned and misshapen) a few years ago. It has lots of little 3-pronged buds and a couple leaves are just starting to unfurl at the tips, so hoping I'll get some flowers soon - anxious to see what color it is. Last year was its first winter in my yard and it was still recovering from the move and whatever other trauma it saw (no offense to sis, she's just not a gardener), and didn't bloom at all.

Yep, I have one of those that I had been trimming (I live in an apt bldg - so its not my plant) then the property mgmnt hired people for the yard and they came in and went crazy, most of the things they cut back (forsythia, hydrangea and several other bushes) are totally ok, but the witch hazel hasn't bloomed since (although now you're making me want to check...on my way, and have my phone!) Rolling on the floor laughing

I'm starting to see some heaths or heathers starting to bloom in my area. Mine are all budded out, but haven't yet opened. And, of course, the bright primroses have arrived at the grocery stores. I'll likely break down and toss a couple in my basket for a quick splash of color on the kitchen steps.

Love the fragrance of daphne! Hopefully we'll have more actual blooms to show off in February... January was pretty skimpy.
