I may have misspelled that last part of it's name?? I had it IDed and it was IDed as maybe Sarmentosum (sp) I thought it was an evergreen and would stay green all winter and not die back. That's exactly what mine did, only now it's coming back.I had to long pots of it and put one in the ground and never got the other planted both dies back. Now they are forming new little rosettes.Any opinions on if maybe we got the ID wrong or i done something to cause this.I have to also explain what i done with it.We had a bunch of tree's removed and there was a stump right next to where i wanted to put my rock garden.I decided to include the stump by putting rocks around it,filling it in with soil and plant the stringy sedum on it.It look gorgeous this summer even if i didn't get bloom,it had just been planted that summer.

Good morning Jelinda.
It does appear to be S. sarmentosum. The old foliage may be what died out, I see lots of new young green growth. If no new growth shows in the center mound, just move some of the new growth into that area. I love the leaves on this sedum.

Is the old growth dying back when it starts getting cold and then coming back with a month or two something this plant will do every year? What was still potted also died back and now is coming back.If you click the pictures you can see in the first 2 the other planter that i had planned on planting & just never got to it.The first one is when i noticed that the plant was dying back & the last 2 is it coming back.By the amount of leaves in the first picture,it probably started right before it got real cold, which isn't very cold here.We have had a total of maybe 7 nights below freezing.Days stay in the mid 40's to low 50's on a cold day!!
Glad to here the ID is correct and i didn't cause the die back!!

Some of the sedum can be either evergreen or deciduous, depending on the growing conditions.
Sure is a great plant. Can't wait to see photos this spring.
