I'm sure he has been asked that question many times. Some hybridizers sell a few of their seedlings and some refuse to sell any. I somehow have the feeling it is the later, due to the size of his pile. With my luck, I would pull out the ugliest seedling out of the pile.

Larry did sell seedlings. Several years ago on two occasions we went over and bought several of his seedlings for $50 each. Got some good genes in those seedlings, far better than any that we had at that time. One dip seedling that we bought is very similar to his Wild Dreams. He sold that one to us with the promise that we would not introduce it, sell or give any of it to anyone else. We have keep that promise and will in the future.

Yes, he does sell some seedlings, James has bought some. The 2 seedlings I was given he asked for me not to sell, give away, or anything else with them; to toss them out once I'm done with them.

Wow! $50 for a seedling that you are supposed to compost when you done with it? It's must have had some great genes! His flowers are really amazing, so I'm sure it was well worth every penny!

I think the seedlings that Larry doesn't want you to spread around is the ones he has more than one of, and you may not be the only one with that seedling. The one Michele and I got was one he had lined out to register and decided he would not register it for some reason. He did say it was a good parent for patterns. He sells lots of one of a kind seedlings, I have been there during bloom season when the greenhouse would be full of people buying seedlings.

I have sold several seedlings that I would tell the buyer the same thing because they were not getting all of that seedling. Here is a seedling that I have sold several double fans over the past few years. I would not register the seedling because I think the scape is too short (20-24") for a 6" plus flower. It doesn't carry this short scape to the babies and I am still useing it today.
