OK -- I've looked at www.MontereyBay and Superstition (at Facebook) -- and neither are listing Irises for sale. Is it just too early?

I think it is to early. It is hard to be patient in January. 7 degrees here this morning. I move my Amaryllis, African Violets and Cactus away from the window at night. Hope it warms up a little.......

Mary Ann, I ordered from Superstition by e-mail. Just send them one with your "want list". They'll reply with availabllity, cost, shipping, etc. then you send the check. I ordered some historics, and you have to do that early, or they're g-g-gone! I don't remember when they said the new paper cat. was going out Confused . When I get a better internet connection, i'll look it up and get back to you.We are just south of Memphis( actualy Coldwater, Ms.) and the wi-fi isn't the best.....Arlyn

I was thinking of you today, Arlyn. I was driving east on I24 toward Nashville, and wondered if you were somewhere on the road ahead of me, or behind me...................... Green Grin! So you skip I24 altogether, and stay on I57 south into Tennessee?

Drive safe and have a great trip!!

Thanks for the ordering info!

Superstition mails the paper book in early Feb.i thought about you today, also,as we went thru Sikeston, Mo.. I wondered if you had ever been to Lambert's and had a roll throwed at you? It's sort of in your area.I think there's a ferry crossing to Kentucky near there?! Confused ....Arlyn

Oh! I been throwed at many times!! Hilarious! I'm not aware of a ferry crossing -- we do the drive once in awhile. It's a long, convoluted sort of drive -- kind of *you can't get there from here* -- but you can, it just takes awhile. Lambert's is an experience!! Years ago -- my aunt and uncle were down for a visit (from the Chicago area) -- and we took them and my folks to Lambert's for dinner. After they returned home, my aunt sent me a note in which she said "thank you for taking us to that interesting place -- we enjoyed having food thrown at us!" Rolling on the floor laughing

Sounds like she should have been an extra, on the Animal House movie! It is a neat place! I'll have to check on the crossing site, I know ther is one SOMEPLACE that crosses into Ky. Old brain cells die, and that one was one that went, apparently!.By the way, we arrived at Dauphin Island yesterday at 3:30.Sunny and 50deg. here now at8:00! Settle in today, and check out the fishing tomorrow. Took a long walk on the beach last nite, and I'm still tired, that sand is hard to walk in! Have you ordered from Superstition yet? Remamber, if you snooze, you lose!...Arlyn Rolling on the floor laughing

There is a ferry near Cave-In-Rock IL that crosses to KY -- but that wouldn't really help in a trip from here to Sikeston. What we usually do is cross the bridge from Wickliffe to Cairo, then cross the bridge from Cairo to Missouri -- then drive the trek to Sikeston. An alternate trip is to drive north from Paducah to Herrin, then south from Herrin to Sikeston.

There's really no good way to do it.

You'd have to know my aunt to fully appreciate her comments -- she was a very *proper* lady!

Glad you arrived safe and sound. Enjoy your stay, and keep us posted on your activities!! Any Irises blooming there yet?

As yet, Mary Ann, I haven't walked through town to check on any flower gardens. I'm still stuck in the walking on the beach thing! Wild flowers are blooming along the path to the beach, and in the dunes, and I saw some Spiderwort, so if there are iris , they should be blooming ,I would think Confused . Confused One yearWe were camping near Grand Junction ,Co. and I saw a nic iris bed in a front yard. The lady was "working" in her yard and I stopped to talk to her, and inquired as to the colors of her iris, (they were long past blooming at that time). She said she didn't know any of the names, just colors, and that she had everyting but yellow. I got her address and ,later, when we got home, sent her a box of "Bananna Frappe". She sent me a nice thank you note, and I forgot all about it. The next year I recieved a package of "her" iris in the mail. I sent her a note back offering to send her more iris if she wanted them, but heard nothing from her. 2 years later we were back in Co., and I stopped by again. I learned from her husband that she had passed away that spring (cancer). He said that she had seen the "yellow one" bloom, and in fact, he had cut iris blooms to put on her grave. I was real glad that we had stopped, but I think I cried for an hour afterwards! Sometimes "found" flowers give un-expected rewards!....Arlyn

In Alabama, ,near Mobile. The name of the town/island is Dauphin Island. We'll be here till Feb. 5th, or so, then I want to move east along the coast for a few days( St. George Island, Fl.) then back to the Mississippi, and follow it home. I'd like to stop at Vicksburg, Ms. again.Civil War battle field and cemetary is worth seeing again. So far, the only things blooming, that I've seen, besides wildflowers, are , I think, camielias. Those and one GIANT geranium, must be 8' tall! ....Arlyn
