As yet, Mary Ann, I haven't walked through town to check on any flower gardens. I'm still stuck in the walking on the beach thing! Wild flowers are blooming along the path to the beach, and in the dunes, and I saw some Spiderwort, so if there are iris , they should be blooming ,I would think
.
One yearWe were camping near Grand Junction ,Co. and I saw a nic iris bed in a front yard. The lady was "working" in her yard and I stopped to talk to her, and inquired as to the colors of her iris, (they were long past blooming at that time). She said she didn't know any of the names, just colors, and that she had everyting but yellow. I got her address and ,later, when we got home, sent her a box of "Bananna Frappe". She sent me a nice thank you note, and I forgot all about it. The next year I recieved a package of "her" iris in the mail. I sent her a note back offering to send her more iris if she wanted them, but heard nothing from her. 2 years later we were back in Co., and I stopped by again. I learned from her husband that she had passed away that spring (cancer). He said that she had seen the "yellow one" bloom, and in fact, he had cut iris blooms to put on her grave. I was real glad that we had stopped, but I think I cried for an hour afterwards! Sometimes "found" flowers give un-expected rewards!....Arlyn
