Thread OP

Adelman's and Brooks Gardens have both sent notifications that their catalogs have been updated for 2013. If you have a favorite nursery or want a particular plant it is now time to check their catalogs and/or contact them to see if the peony that you want will be available. Some nurseries did for wholesale and have odds and ends that do not appear in their catalogs but will sell if asked.

Same advice for species from Hidden Springs Flower Farm. Species double red fern leaf $44.95. Species single red $29.99. Species P.tenuifolia Rosea sold out already. They have listed their catalog early for early reservations. Usually completely sold out before most people think about ordering. I have ordered 3 times from them and have never had a problem. The fern leaf roots will be small in comparison to the lactifloras but that is just their nature.

I have been told it is better to shop over summer and buy in the fall?
Although it seems now is when the catalogues carry them?

The scarce varieties seem to sell out early but there are bargains in the fall. Last fall, Khlems Song Sparrow had a 3 for 2 sale which was basically a clearing operation.

It was Oct 30 2012 when I ordered a P.tenuifolia lithophile which was all I needed. I think the sale covered all their plants but it was slightly past their normal shipping dates. Just check with them about Oct 1 to see what they are offering. Very reputable nursery.
