How about the green question mark bubble that appears on all the "ask a question thread"?

Perhaps it could be an earned badge for answering a question. Of course it needs to be a useful answer. Not like "I don't know maybe some in the so and so forum will know".

If 32x32 pixels has enough resolution to let the "?" be readable, that sounds good. Otherwise, something with the same color scheme?

I like this idea. I'd just need to think of a good way to figure out at what point the badge should get awarded.

It's been a while since we've had an earned badge (rather than a "buy with acorns" badge).

Maybe you could base giving the badge on the number of thumbs up an answer got? Or whether acorns were awarded for the answer?

Dave, I was looking at the region badges and thinking it would be nice to have one for Mexico but then, I may be the only one on here that lives there. Also, it's a big country, lots of different climates. So... then I was thinking that a badge for people who live in the tropics would be cool. As opposed to ones who like tropical plants - which is also cool - but different. That would include people all around the Caribbean, south Florida, parts of Mexico, Central America and parts of South America. What do you think?

@extranjera - what would it look like?
It would also include people in Southeast Asia, Northern Africa, Australia etc etc. Hard to make a badge for that...

When I think of tropical I think rainforest type climate , but I am not sure if all tropics get a lot of rain?
If so maybe a water drop with a palm-tree or some typical tropical plant ? (hibiscus?)
Tropical island?

Maybe a badge to represent Mexico would work best, since you already have a badge for tropical?

@Hetty, I don't know about how it would look. One idea is an earth with the center latitudes bulging or glowing? Or, just an icon for people who don't have to deal with cold as a factor in planting, perhaps a circle with a slash over a snowdrop? Although I don't really like being defined by what we are not rather than what we are.

I would buy a Mexico icon but I might be the only one Shrug! The flag is red, white and green with the eagle holding a snake in the center, Independence day in Mexico is coming up soon, Sept 16th, so it is a good time.

I like the mountain west idea and can picture a nice mountain themed badge. I think regions are more descriptive than states, but recognize that some folks really like to identify with their particular state. I'm happy to use my Pacific Northwest badge, rather than a Washington specific badge, which gives me a feeling of kinship with my neighboring Oregonians and British Columbians who share my temperate climate.
