*giggle* Sweetness yesterday looked up at me, and said
Sticking tongue out

Why? Because the three buds have come & gone (one I clipped & vased for my BF who'd helped with all the dirt work), and were trimmed at nice growing nodes. I gave her a very little bit of rose food, and plenty of watering at the roots.

There's a good half-dozen new leaf spurts all over, and I think one more bud coming, maybe two. Now how nifty cool is THAT?!

Sweetness caught my eye last year. I was waiting to hear reviews from people in colder zones. That bloom is really something special!

BTW, I am popping in late, but I think part of the obesity problem is processed food and sugar, especially high fructose corn syrup. Sugared sodas and juices are also a problem. Almost every food has sugar in it, even peanut butter, whole turkeys, mayonnaise. I choose the few brands without it and make my own mayonnaise.

I have to finish my breakfast and get out in the garden! I got lots of work done during the rainy days, so I can play today! I like cool days like this, 55'F.

Hi Andi!...thought you went into hiding. Yup, sugar is a BIG problem. Did you put some on yer breakfast? I also think that artificial sweetners are just as bad. I have never liked soda because I don't much enjoy carbonation but in the years of "TAB" (remember that brand?) I was drinking more soda and discovered that it seemed to cause weight gain. [At that time I was still worried about 'pinching an inch']. I later learned that most artificial sweetners (suffix 'tol') are alcohol sugar. less absorbtion but not better for the system.

I'm glad you are back...and in the garden too! I wish I could do that but I have to get back to the paperwork of settling mom's estate. After finishing taxes, in spite of cold rain, I spent last week playing and going to previously scheduled events....time to pull the paper back out. I want that out of the way so I can get vegetables in the first of May. Have fun out there.

I had an ear infection. The antibiotics are finally kicking in. Then I had to catch up on things. It had been a tough winter, but spring should be better. It doesn't feel like spring at the moment, I had to drag a bunch of plants in and cover some others. It may dip down to 32'F tonight. Right now it is 46'F.

I wasn't sure if it was going to rain or not. The weather forecast kept changing. So I watered anyway.

I had an omelet for breakfast, saving the shells for the garden, of course. I don't typically eat sugar. I don't even have any in the house at the moment. I'll have to get some for the hummingbirds next time I am at the store. I do have some Splenda to occasionally make myself a diet treat or sugar free cocoa when I have a craving. I feel best on a high protein diet. Ironically, I still like to bake for holidays or special occasions.

I am behind on veggie starting. Last year I was too early. Eventually I'll get it right. I am not sure where I will put them once they are ready to go out -some kind of containers somewhere-but the price of produce has inspired me to grow more veggies.

All the prime garden space is devoted to flowers, especially roses. They feed my soul and lift my spirit.

AngelSong, are you sure that's not a lavender cabbage? That thing is huge! What a great find!

She bloomed again, another 6 or 7 flowers, I don't remember..
I trimmed them as they finished.

And then she got real quiet..
No growth
No blooming
Nothin'.

So I looked at the calendar! Genius! Time to soak water again & fertilize.
*snicker* I've got bursts of new growth in about six spots again.

Love it

Sometimes roses take a little nap when the temps get above ninety. Should put on a really good show again this fall. Glad it is working out well for you!
