Has anyone grown these? Are they really red or more carmine or fuchsia colour? I bought some seed last year and plan to sow them soon.

They are on the pink side of red to my way of thinking.

Thank Caroline! The Stokes Seed Package says Bright Red, but I have never seen bright red trailing lobelia

I'll be curious to hear how they come out! Bright red cascading lobelia would be nice to have!

Hmmm, I looked at some of the photos online with a google search and they look more of a bright fuchsia than red....but still very pretty! I wonder how much the planting location affects the color.

How about Lobelia cardinalis / Cardinal Flower?

... oh, "trailing". Nope L. cardinalis has stand-up bloom spikes.

Yes that is a pretty red, more red than the picture shows. I grew the Cardinal (perennial) last year from seed. Not trailing. If we have a mild winter, it may come back next year

I love my L. Cardinalis. It's one of my favorite plants. Our summers are so hot, it does much better for me in part sun than full sun. The oldest clump is right in front of my front porch, where it draws the hummingbirds right up close. They can't resist that plant, even with annoying human types so nearby.
