I am looking for poems written by our members here at ATP
Must be about sempervivum, Jovibarba, and/or heuffelii.
Don't post your poem here in the thread, please send it to me via Tree-mail. They will all be put together in an article that will be used in March for the big Sempervivum Week.

I would also like to know what sempervivum/jovibarba/heffelii most inspired you to write your poem. Smiling
You can use your own photo or one from the database.

It may be past my bedtime but...what if we each came up with a line or 2 and put them together?

I will try and write one! Never tried writing a poem before being more of a painter, but I would assume that it is just a pretty, rhyming collage of words right?! :D This will be fun! Thumbs up

While working on my green wall (photos in appropriate forum soon to come) Big Grin I've been thinking about the semp poem, I'm considering making it an homage to my grandpa, he is who influenced his daughter (my mother) as well as me. He was a person who had an amazing "green thumb" and I have always felt it was hereditary, since I wasn't a farmer (living in an urban area) yet I always loved plants. At 12 I realized that forsythia branches could be planted after being cut off the parent plant (so guess what surrounded our family yard after that - glad my parents liked them) Whistling
The homage part would be to tie this hereditary gardening gene, with the word "sempervivum" meaning forever living.
Just thought I'd share what I've been thinking of I tip my hat to you.
Anyone else??

His roses were the talk of the neighborhood (my grandma used to take them to decorate their church) and I especially remember his hollyhocks! 6 feet tall with just amazing big blooms! Hurray!
This will be exciting Lynn!

Hey Greg, this isn't about poems...I suck at poems. But your sharing about your family made me want to share with you that my grandfather was a chrysanthemum (sp?) farmer in Milpitas CA. And now whenever I put a chrysanthemum flower up to my nose I think of my grandfather because the palms of his hands always smelled of chrysanthemums. Lovey dubby

Bev that is such a cool memory! I like to have family memories like that, especially smells mixed with sights, they can be very profound! And gardening is so important for me! I only just renewed my indoor plants last year (except for one or 2 that are long time survivors!) but I've lived in my building almost 10 years and I've done so much around the yard, caring for and adding beds and plants, so I've kept my hands in the dirt, even when I was taking a "break" from plants Rolling on the floor laughing
Thanks for sharing Bev!

I want to make my poem show that I only have these plants as company in life and sometimes people are overrated and nasty, where as plants just accept you for who you are.xxx

I love reading about your memories Bev.
The scent of geraniums brings memories of both my grandmother and mom. My grandmother had a large steep bank covered with geramiums. In warm/hot weather the air would be permeated with the scent. I loved them. Also love the feeling of their soft fuzzy leaves.

Plants and pets, Pia. Big Grin

For all of you. Group hug
