I had never smelled lilacs until I moved to the PNW in the mid 60's. I do love that scent.
Same for the sight of forsythia in bloom. That would have been about the same time period. The first time I saw one, I coined the phrase 'Forsooth, a Forsythia'. Every spring it is a family tradition to say that when we see the first blooming forsythia for the season.

Lynn where did you grow up that you didn't have forsythia or lilacs? Surprising...I had to look up "forsooth" hahaha - you're funny! I may have to steal it this spring!

I grew up in Southern California, where it got way down into the 50's during winter. BRRRRRR

50 degrees Farenheit! I wish it was that here! haha at the moment my town is at a steady 32-33 degrees...

You wouldn't see snow on your semps, though. What a trade-off!

Meanwhile here in Seattle its felt like 33 everyday for weeks - yet no precipitation so no snow! Where's that "trade off" Bev I'm kidding though, I'm usually not one to complain about the weather, unless its too soggy for my semp babies - even if it just waits another month for them to be more established I'd be okay

I envy you all! This morning on my way to work it was 8 below zero with a 40 deg. below zero wind chill!!! YUK! Unfortunately last weekend it was in the mid 40's and almost all the snow melted. Now my poor plants to all bare and subjected to this.

Oh Chris, that is hard on them. Do you have anymore snow in the forecast?

Greg, we have about the same weather conditions going. Except we've been in the 20's for some time now. But right now the sun is out and it's 31°F.

Going out on the deck to pot some things up. Cliff drilled holes in some more containers for me.

Limericks are fun,,, but watch out,,, they can get a bit shhhhhh (raunchy)
