This is growing in the desert north of Las Cruces, NM. It was the seed heads that caught my attention and made me stop on the side of the road.

Wish I would have taken a photo of just the leaves, so we could study them up close. Sad

The leaves did not look familiar either, but I've spent as little time as possible in the desert....lol..lived in Yuma for two years....that was quite enough...

We did this in the spring, April and May. It was so beautiful, and no heat, in the 70's most days.
I don't do well anymore in hot sun.

That's true...actually, I would like to go back to Arizona right now.....Prescott, and the little bakery that had the very best napoleons and eclairs that I've ever had. Mornings and evenings in the desert are beautiful, long purple shadows.

The desert has a beauty all it's own.

Lynn, I think it's Apache Plume, Fallugia paradoxa. I've only seen it in pictures, but always thought it was an amazing plant just from seeing those!

So that's what Apache Plume looks like....I've heard the name, but never seen it. Pretty cool....

I agree,it does look like Apache Plume.I wish you could all see my rose beds in bloom!!They are spectacular!! I will post pictures in a few days.
