I have been hearing people speak of "variegated" Christmas Cactus.
Please tell me what species this is, and show a picture if you can?

I can not believe such a plant exists since I am unable to find a picture.
If I knew what I was looking for it would certainly help. Thanks so much for any input you may have to solve this mystery for me.

JB,
there are 2 maybe 3 recognized variegated ones that i know of most frequent is Madame Butterfly ( http://cactus-epiphytes.eu/Pho... ) it is usually a creme color on the edges that does come back true variation.
i think this site has pic of another 1. most of what is advertized on ebay are not the true variegated. when i find the other 1's will send you a link
but here is this persons pic of his

Cliff, i hate to sound stupid, but I have some plants that look like that and they are not called "variegated". It had to do with the sun and conditions in the GH. LOL Thanks, I have seen M. Butterfly before and never noticed the leaves. Hmmmmm. Rolling my eyes.

JB,
You are NOT sounding stupid at all. That is what is usually the 1's sold on ebay are.! and when conditions change, they go back normal.(but you will have run out of time to say something by then) but the true one's will stay variegated. there are 2 different M. Butterfly that are out there. 1 is normal, the other is vari and both clone true thru cuttings they are sold thru the Epie Group in Holland.. I remember reading about a red cultivar but the info was on my old computer that went kaput and haven't found the site again yet. And i'm sure with all the hybidizing going on there will be others coming and not working out..

Cliff, did you see these on ebay?
Can you imagine paying those prices for those plants? I looked at them weeks ago and never payed attention to the Name having variegated in it. I thought the leaves got cold. LOL Anyhow, they are being sold as variegated. Do you ever talk to the people on cactiguide.com? I love that place. I went on with my question and got so many good thoughts. You want the link ....you need to log in before you can read it I think.
