Has anyone ever ordered from this company? It seems like I did a long time ago, but not sure. This is one place that has the pretty little checkered lilies that Loretta posted. Would love to try them, but don't want to get burned by Spring Hill and Brecks type catalogs...

Yes, I've ordered from them, they are reliable. Plants are quite small but healthy and based on their website they seem to stand behind their products (I've never lodged a complaint, so no personal experience).

Bob,

I saw that they have them for 75% off if you preorder for fall shipment. Might give them a try.

Gary,

I checked with Brent and Becky's. They didn't show it available. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Are you talking about the fritillaries?

Yes. Not an easy item to find right now! Maybe they'll be more available in the fall? I really like the blooms that Loretta posted.

I searched their site and it came up no results. I've requested a catalog. Thanks for the tip!

I have ordered lots of bulbs from Colorblends, never had any issues. Large, fresh bulbs. They do have a min order of $60.00, which if that's to much, maybe go in with some others. I have built up my order on those particular Fritts to 400 bulbs over the last few years.
There customer service has been excellent.

400 bulbs?!?! Is it safe to say that these are a small plant that is better planted in groups?

I did it over 4 years, yes they are small bulbs, IMHO look better in groups. I just stick a shovel in about 3" and tilt back on it, typically put 3 bulbs in. They like partial shade and moist not wet soil. The key on the Fritts is to get fresh bulbs and plant as soon as possible, also plant them on their side, since they have a little divot in the center that can collect water. Like other bulbs, wait until the leaves turn yellow before cutting, I leave the seeds on the stems. They look like weedy grass when they come up.

Brent and Becky and Van Engelen / John Scheepers have their fall bulbs up and you can get Fritillaria meleagris at both. It usually sells out at some point. I just bought more from Van Engelen which looks like it was a couple of cents more than Colorblends but not enough for me to care since I already placed the order.
And what's up with B&B's website? The color is irritating.
