I have looked for Alabama croton around here but couldn't find it, it is more of a Texas hill country plant and is rather rare.

No, not my site but the plant intrigues me and the owner of the site isn't too far away from me. It seems to be native in TX, TN and AL only. Interesting.
Nice flowers on that croton! There's only two crotons around here. The one I know the name for is Bush Croton, Croton fruticulosis. The other is a bit less common...I haven't ID'd it yet on species...but the flowers aren't like those in the link.
