This attractive evergreen shrub or small tree beautifies our yard year round, with lovely flowers in early spring providing nectar for butterflies.
It also makes an excellent shelter for many birds in winter while providing food for wildlife.

Pretty! Josephine, has any butterfly used it for a host plant?

Not that I know of Linda, but then I haven't looked for eggs or larvae on them either.
Do you think that the butterflies that use other cherries for larval food might use this one too?
That would be wonderful!! Smiling

I've heard it mentioned as a host plant, so I see no reason why not. Right now, I have a few Red Admirals and Gulf Fritillaries, but they don't use the cherries, of course!

Thank you, Josephine.

This is exactly what we are looking for to use as a screen on our property. Thumbs up

Such a pretty evergreen. Right now, we have no evergreens to speak of, just deciduous trees and underbrush!

I like that is is food for wildlife as well.
