Those bananas sure do look good. I am waiting to see how mine will do this year. I have a Hardy Banana that I planted, mulched heavily and we will just wait and see if it really does over winter for me. I put several smaller pups in the GH and they are doing very well.

I am getting to the end of the 2nd bunch and now I see a 3rd flower has formed. It seems a bit smaller so maybe less fruit, my freezer is full again and I've donated tons. I think I've made 6 batches of banana bread in the last 3 weeks, I'm sick of it so I think my friends must be too.

I hope you get some blooms and fruit. I'm now waiting to see if my decorative banana, it has a violet, upright bloom, will come through. It's put out several pups and they are all getting tall but no blooms yet.

It's called a Dwarf Williams... delicous banana! As it's short and the flower/fruit very accessible, I've had fun following the development...

I'll look for it here. I buy 'em and just as they're about to fruit, the freeze gets them. This year, we had hardly any cold weather, so maybe I'll have better luck.

I remember having a Cavendish. Isn't it a small one? I checked at our local nursery yesterday for bananas, but they said they weren't ready yet. I did manage to buy more salvias and milkweeds, so it wasn't a wasted trip.

Impressive thanks for the link.
My Hardy Banana has done well overwintering outside. There are 3 new stalks coming up I might have a whole grove given time.

This is Musa 'Thousand Fingers' - the bananas are very small. We have this at the Botanical Garden where I work, although 9 ft is impressive.

They aren't planted in the most desirable spot. We planted them at the edge of our large compost pile and then piled leafs over them in hopes of protecting them from the cold. Now they are growing very well so I hate to move them. I think I will leave those where they are but I have another one that I overwintered in the GH that I will plant in a better location.
Here are a few of my bananas. First Zebrina Musa, second 2 Hardy Musa and a NOID Banana, third Red Abyssinian Banana, last a Truly Tiny that won't get bigger than about 2 1/2 ft.

Wow! That is a lot of bananas, even small ones.

My decorative banana is blooming now, I think there are 3 blooms on it. It isn't planted in the best spot either, I put it there because there is reliable full sun but I didn't realize it would be this leggy. I gave a couple pups to a friend who has them in a pot, if they grow well there I may move these to one. I love the color of the bloom but without a good sized clump of them they are kind of straggly.

Love that pink bloom Jonna Lovey dubby Yeah, I remember banana plants as being sun loving, and enjoys the hot and humid weather we got in the Phil. I never did see them planted in containers there..always on the ground, since they grow tall and wide. Really interesting to see how it is adapted to grow in other areas. Smiling
