Thank you Bev and Greg! I will have to make sure I plant any haworthia's together with the other tender succulents and just keep those inside probably. I guess ill start taking my more hardy ones outside on the next warm day. It did get to the 50's last week but only for 2 days and then went back down. Ill wait for a weekend that is going to be nice so I can be home to rotate them in and out of shade if need me and slowly get them used to being outside. Smiling You guys have been great help. I still have my haworthia's planted with some more hardy succulents and need to switch them around I believe a bit more.

I have Baby semps around the Haworthia in this planter.

This one has my new ones in there. I believe they will do good together? Not sure yet. Have to do some more research.

Jackie, I think window box will be OK. When they start growing more, they will reveal to you what needs to be done for them. Enjoy!

thank you bev, i really just dont want to hurt the plants anymore. one thing ive seen so far is that since i gave the window box the first original watering the soil since sunday has stayed moist. should the soil have dried out by now? Could the stones on top be holding the moisture in to well? I really want to avoid root rot again. Any ideas?

If it has good drain holes it should dry out. Just watch them, if you start seeing signs of soft mushy leaves, replant in dry soil.

Jackie, what is on the bottom of the window box? The water is draining out of the soil to somewhere, right? If no holes, then did you layer rock on bottom and then soil and then plants?

Bev- I put a nice big layer of rock on the bottom layer first. The window box does not have any holes but thought if i put enough of the rock down it would be ok?? My window sill is staying quite chilled right now as well which might have something to do with it? After a week i would think the soil would start getting pretty dry again. I mixed in sand with the dirt as well then tried to mound up the dirt on top where the plants would be sitting. Should i take them out and start over or just add to a different pot maybe? I just thought the window sill would be great to get them used to being a little chilled here and then start taking them outside when sunny.

I would worry about stagnant water in the rock layer.

OK I've been keeping a secret Sticking tongue out ... Back in January I noticed that one of my S. 'Andrenor' was looking bad! I purchased it in Dec. and it didn't ship well Sad It never recovered after transplanting.
Anyway, I did the surgery thing, I cut off the part that looked like it was rotting (which was the tip) After surgery I gave it a "dry out period" indoors for a couple of days.
I didn't want to say anything because I wasn't sure if it would live...I didn't take a "before" photo (bad me!) but here is the "after" photo - pretty amazing! I may become a surgical "freak"!! There seem to be about 6 new budlets growing at the top!!! How exciting is that! Hilarious! Hurray!

nodding Believe me it is slightly attractive to me, the idea of walking around to all my semps and see if I should "cut of their heads!" (I guess there's a little bit of Dr Frankenstein here! Big Grin

It is a good thing to do if a singleton starts to bloom. Twit taught us that trick a couple of years ago.
And I think your surgery plant is beautiful, beautiful in all the promise it shows. Lovey dubby
