Wow Jennifer, that is cool!! Do all these plants go in your yard, or are you winter sowing for friends/family too? Big Grin

Way more than I can fit! I plan to share a lot! That is if most of what I've sown grows.

I saw that there are threads about this, but haven't read any, so - is there a heat mechanism in the crates? And where did you get them? It looks all "hydroponic" Rolling on the floor laughing

Nope. No heat. My husband works for a produce co. Some produce is shipped in them. They have the added bonus of being collapsable.

Loved the collapse feature of those crates! So practical to put away when you aren't winter sowing. Thumbs up

Hurray! Rolling on the floor laughing When you read about some of these sempervivum hybridizers its really funny because they all sound a bit crazy! I think semps attract that type of person for whatever reason! Sounds like you're in the right place! Big Grin

Bev, it is the Silene. I put the pot on the covered deck to over winter the geranium, not realizing the silene needed the rain and cold to stay alive and healthy. *Blush*
I'm going to see if I can find another and not make the same mistake again.

Wahoo Jennifer. That is a beautiful site. Lovey dubby
Greg, it is so easy it sounds like it can't be true. Plant them and water. Put outside in the cold and they will growing when the weather tells them to. No fuse, no muse.

Glad that I'm not a hybridrizer, that way you can't call me crazy. Whistling
Although that would be great company. Lovey dubby

Hilarious! I do have some flower seeds from last year's annuals, a friend told me they were usable, I'm personally not so sure...maybe I'll winter sow them! Smiling

Rudbeckia 'teddy bear' or something like that...I was thinking the plants would be sterile, this person (who probably has no idea Hilarious! ) was insisting that I should collect the seeds and see what happens, he collected a bunch for his sister, so I did too! Then I was given these things that I have no idea what it is, the person couldn't remember the name but they said its a ground cover that gets white flowers that have a slight licorice smell to them, that also sounded interesting. But since I don't know what they are I can't remember if they'll do ok in shade, which is what I'm looking for, a ground cover which loves shade...I have vinca, and that little flowering strawberry (non fruiting) ground cover and I have Lily of the valley, but would love something more!!

I'd just sow them in the milk jugs and stick them outside.

Jennifer, that's sad, I do think they'll bounce back though, if the deer stop eating them!!

I made little chicken wire cages to keep the rabbits from eating one type of my phlox. I guess next year I will know to make them for the semps too! I think they will survive.
