And actually they may make several different crowns, so that could look cool too! I tip my hat to you.

Rabbits and voles can cause the same damage. Bird netting has kept everything out of mine during the winter.

That really is hard to look at. I know how I feel when I see some of my plants damaged by critters. Group hug
But I agree, most should snap out of it once growing season starts.
Have you seen the deer nibbling on them?
Sorry, I just shivered and cringed when I went to look again. Sad

I do have rabbits a plenty but I actually saw deer prints by them so I assumed it was the deer. It just seems so very weird a thing for deer to eat! But maybe the deer around here watch Bizarre Food with Andrew Zimmern!

I'm not really upset about it. I know they are tough plants and will recover. Also, I have another grouping elsewhere they haven't munched.

On a side note, the pics may be hard to look at but I LOVE my new camera that takes such good pics! Thanks to hubby. Great xmas gift!

Well, first he picked this one because it is orange. I am crazy about orange.

It is Fuji FinePix XP50

It is waterproof! The only thing I use my camera for is taking pics of my flowers. My mom and I are really close. We both walk our gardens in the morn and evening. Always taking pics and them posting them on Picassa. We chat back and forth over the pictures. Well, we used to! She signed up for Google+ and I refuse to. So I can't comment on her photos now. But I still take lots of pics of my gardens. For me it serves as a journal.

Great idea. And you can some what do that here at ATP in the database. Post a new photo to the database, if some one clicks on it and makes a comment, a running dialogue has begone.

Nice camera Jennifer. I just looked it up. It is unbelievable how far technology has come in the camera field. I love that it is waterproof. Lovey dubby
Wish mine was.

Yes I can't believe how fast the technology changes. Back in 2004ish I went to Spain. I bought my first digital camera, case, and memory card for the trip. I thought it was a really nice model. It was a Cannon Powershot. All that cost me $400. This new camera is 10 times better, came with the case and an 8 gb card. Not sure exactly how much it cost but I know it was less than half of my original package! And this new camera has a setting just for taking pictures of flowers!

I bought this in a four inch pot last summer. I promptly split it into three sections. Maybe not the best thing to to.

One section has struggled. BUT still has some living bits. Not sure what to do with it this summer to help it thrive.

Looks like freezing and thawing has pushed their roots out of the soil. I had some of that happen this year. Just replant them. They will all be fine. They still look healthy.
Great photos.

Well the deer are back. GRRRR, really doing damage.

Here is the same patch of Sedum Angelina that was half eaten before
Thumb of 2013-03-03/jvdubb/5ef993

Here is the same patch of Semps with many many more centers or even whole thing gone. You can just see the white main root left Sad

Good news Jennifer, they should all come through with flying colors. Just see if you can put some kind of wire over them until danger passes. Thumbs up

Really? Well that will be interesting to see. The deer are also pulling out chunks of my creeping phlox. They don't eat it because it is pokey. But they don't find that out until they have pulled the chunk. I have gathered that up too and potted it up. Hopefully I will have success saving that too.

Could she pile some snow over the plants so they can't see them or maybe feed the deer some corn or something so they won't want the plants?

Jennifer - have you tried Plantskydd? I put some out in our yard now and haven't seen a rabbit since. It also works great for deer....

I have not tried it. But my husband works for a produce company. I am going to have him bring home chives and I am going to chop them and sprinkle!

I didn't know chives would keep them away?
I do know feeding the deer or rabbits to keep them from eating your plants, is not a good thing. It will only increase the population once they find there is tasty food available. Blinking
