Moss Tales

Moss, that green slipcover on rocks and sides of trees and old shoes left outside too long; it's moss that lets us know all's well in our environment.

Sharon I truly did enjoy your story ( and the banter afterward) . I agree, it has been my favorite story so far. I have always loved the moss, and to my husbands displeasure, I encourage all around the house. I had no idea until reading your story, that others love it as much as I do. Thank you so much for sharing your stories.Thumb of 2013-02-10/Toni/663d4f

Toni, is that a trillium? Oh my, do you know how long it's been since I've seen a trillium, one of my most favorite little hidden early spring plants. And moss always grows nearby. A trillium, a fern and a bit of moss ~ pure heaven.

Glad you enjoyed the Moss Tales. And so nice to know that so many love moss as much as I do.
Thanks, and special thanks for including the picture, love it!

Blinking Sharon is it a good idea to grow moss all around the house Confused . English language class time. Does not all around the house points towards inside the house other then outside?
Regards,
Arif.

I think in the discussion of moss, 'all around the house' without doubt means outside. Truth is, the phrase can mean in or out ~ around the outside walls, around the inside walls.

I suspect if one had moss growing inside, though, it would have to be within the walls of a roof-less and floor-less house. Or one with soil for the floor, a great interior irrigation system and a clear glass roof. Otherwise, no moss.

I also suspect you are teasing us, Arif. You know English about as well as I do. Big Grin

Mary, in this current wet spell I don't have to run out and grow moss anywhere maybe run inside so that moss does not start growing on me, which it is. Sad Sharon knows.

Arif.

Sharon, I just read your story about the gatherin' day and the moss. Came to it as a result of the moss growing around my house. I lost the grass as the trees grew, and then some of the soil washed away. The tree roots have grown and now cover the ground. But the moss has started growing between the roots and over the roots, and making them much softer to step on. I love the moss too! I enjoy the 'volunteers' that make themselves at home in my garden. You have an awesome gift for storytellin'. Have you written and published any of your stories?

This isn't all of it by any means. The picture makes it look like a very small patch. But it's growing all along the north side of my house.
